Updates regarding  City Operations during the COVID 19 event
Traffic Court resumed Monday, Wednesday and Friday, beginning June 15, 2020. Traffic Court will be held in the Council Chamber to allow for social distancing. The front doors of City Hall will be open from 8:00 am to 8:45 am for TRAFFIC COURT ONLY.  Those coming to Traffic Court must wear a mask.  No Public Restrooms.

Neighborhood Enforcement Action Team (NEAT)

  • The mission of NEAT is to take a proactive approach to suppress criminal activity that pose specific and significant threats to the public’s ability to live safely, move freely, and conduct business.
  • This position allows officers to commit undivided attention to solving annoyance crimes, livability issues, as well as assisting with investigations on an “as needed” basis. The NEAT Officer will be a liaison between citizens and police services.
  • It is the goal of NEAT to make committing crimes within the City Of The Dalles difficult, thereby reducing the crime and improving the quality of life.
  • The Target activities include, but not limited to, coordination of neighborhood saturation patrols, partnerships with property managers, The Dalles Code Enforcement, The Dalles Public Works and Center for Living.

Locating wanted fugitives, locating criminal witnesses and suspects, handle citizen complaints regarding area “hotspots”, and make proactive contacts with potential suspects and sex offenders.
