I am extremely pleased to serve the people of The Dalles as your Chief of Police and even more proud of the good work of the men and women of The Dalles Police Department and their unwavering commitment to community policing. Our mission is to protect the people and property of the citizens of The Dalles as well as our visitors. We strive to maintain and promote public safety as well as the livability of our community with fair, compassionate and unbiased service. As an agency we seek the best outcomes for our citizens and act creatively to diffuse and deescalate tense situations and resolve conflict. We cannot achieve our mission alone. We stand ready to partner with our citizens and allied agencies to further the safety of our community.
The Dalles Police Department believes in transparency. We celebrate our successes and learn from situations that require improvement. This commitment means that we are open to our citizens and welcome conversations, even criticism to help us evolve and be the police department that our citizens want and support. We have an open door policy and welcome visitors whether they are students, concerned citizens or others who desire a meeting, help or a conversation.

The Police Department is responsible for the public safety within the city limits of the City of The Dalles. Services include but are not limited to:
- Protection of life and property
- The detection and apprehension of offenders
- Enforcement of state laws, city ordinances and traffic laws.
