The Water Supply & Treatment Division performs daily operations and maintenance to ensure around the clock operation of the Wicks Water Treatment Plant. The Plant provides 85 - 90% of the City’s annual water supply.

The City of The Dalles has been a member of the Partnership for Safe Water since 1997. Members of this nationwide partnership seek water system excellence by optimizing operations rather than relying solely on capital improvements. The Wicks Water Treatment Plant has achieved the Director’s Award each year since 2000. The award recognizes the City water system for continuous improvement and producing high quality drinking water.

Our water utility is a State of Oregon recognized Outstanding Performer.

The City’s Water Quality Laboratory is certified in Oregon and Washington to perform bacteriological and nitrate compliance analyses for the City. For a fee the lab will test water for regional water agencies, agriculture, and the general public. Other water quality testing may be available if State certification is not necessary.

Water testing fees are listed on page 5 in the City Fee Schedule

The City submits water quality compliance results to the State of Oregon. You can view test results on the Oregon Health Authority webpage for The Dalles Water System No. 41-00869 at yourwater.oregon.gov.

The Division also manages The Dalles Municipal Watershed. The 22,000 acre watershed is closed to the public for the protection of water quality.
