Welcome to The Dalles Community Development Department. In this department we process and issue permits pertaining to land or urban development. Our responsibilities include, right-of way use coordination, current and long range planning, Historic Landmarks, Enterprise Zone, and more.

How is my property zoned?

If your property is located in the city, please use the City of The Dalles zoning map.

Can I subdivide my property?

Every property is unique. Please contact the Community Development Department to help answer your questions. 

How do I report a land use violation?

Do I need a fence permit?

Any property within the Urban Growth Boundary with a fence 4ft or higher will need a fence permit. To find this permit please visit the Planning Application page.

Where is my property line?

While the Community Development Department does not locate property lines, you can either hire a local surveyor or find your plat map on the Wasco County Basemap, here.

There are several resources available where you can find more information about your property.
